Commercial Product, Product Manager

The health care landscape is changing dramatically with new non-traditional players entering the market daily to capitalize on key trends and unmet consumer needs. Consumers are continuing to play a more active and empowered role in managing their health and well-being. They’ve learned from their experiences in other industries and are now expecting the health care industry to step up with tools and resources that provide them with greater price transparency, convenience, and guidance. New web and mobile platforms are emerging that put physicians directly in touch with their patients and enable them to receive care from the convenience of their home or place of work. Anthem is charting a new course and as a product manager in the commercial product team, you will play a key role in supporting the development of Anthem’s next generation of health care products and services. Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of the end-to-end product development process from initial concept to a business case, execution, pilot testing, measurement, and full-scale product launch.

  • In collaboration with product leadership and senior product managers, develop product requirements. Translate desired requirements into concrete product capabilities and features.

  • Support the development of products/solutions to align with Anthem’s strategic product roadmap. Develop and maintain product roadmaps.

  • Validate product requirements for scale through market pilots and primary research.

  • Conduct research to understand the jobs to be done by health care consumers and providers. Collaborate with UX to develop consumer use cases and journeys to inform the development of web and mobile experiences.

  • Identify opportunities to continually improve the consumer and provider experience through new product features and technology.


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business management/administration; 3-5 years of experience in new product development and management (background with web and mobile consumer health and wellbeing, fitness product and services plus).

  • Demonstrated experience with web and mobile technology development required.

  • Strategic, innovative mind-set.

  • Inclination to take initiative, set priorities, and take ownership of assigned projects.

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including IT/digital, product, marketing, sales, legal, compliance, and finance.

  • Strong communication skills.

Annual Salary Range*: $65,120 - $81,400

Actual compensation may vary from posting based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level.
