The Anthem Strategy Team is an in-house strategic consulting group led by the Chief Strategy Officer. The Team develops strategy for Anthem, Anthem’s business units, and Anthem’s growth partner functions, working in close collaboration with business leaders across the enterprise. Engaging with the President and CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and other key leaders, the Anthem Strategy Team focuses on the most critical business priorities for the organization. Specifically, the Team:

  • Scopes and executes in-house consulting engagements

  • Closely monitors key business trends and competitive activities

  • Guides performance management activities across the organization

  • Provides input into enterprise-wide financial planning and investment allocation processes

The Anthem Strategy Team performs additional important roles as requested by Anthem’s President and CEO and the Senior Leadership Team.

The Strategic Consulting Analyst, Sr will contribute to strategy projects and consulting engagements. The Analyst, Sr will research, gather, and analyze information and data to identify trends, provide insights, and make recommendations on key business priorities across the organization.

Specific roles and responsibilities include:

  • Supports the Anthem Strategy Team on project work for senior leaders; contributes to workstreams of internal consulting engagements

  • Conducts relevant analyses in partnership with Anthem Strategy Team leaders

  • Identifies emerging opportunities or potential threats/risks and contributes to assessment of potential impacts to Anthem

  • Researches, identifies, gathers, and analyzes information and data on market trends, themes, and disruptors, with a focus on delivering actionable insights to support strategic decision-making for Anthem

  • Creates and updates competitor profiles; monitors competitor announcements, financial activity, analyst reports, and other published information to build and communicate a detailed understanding of key competitor strategies, offerings, and performance

  • Conducts due diligence to enable the Anthem Strategy Team and executive leadership to make well-informed decisions on partnership and M&A opportunities; provides assessment and thought leadership on industry outlook, strategic fit, synergy potential, and key risks

  • Structures and supports quantitative/financial analysis

  • Quickly and efficiently produces high-quality presentations, analysis, and other deliverables

  • Provides and grows technical knowledge and subject matter expertise


  • BA/BS in related field and 2+ years of experience in management consulting or large-scale project management (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • Healthcare experience strongly preferred

  • Excellent research skills with experience in market and company analysis; experience with both quantitative and qualitative research preferred

  • Demonstrated experience supporting the development of business strategies and contributing to analysis of company needs

  • Team player with experience working both in teams and as an individual contributor

  • Demonstrated project management skills
