The Anthem Strategy Team is an in-house strategic consulting group led by the Chief Strategy Officer. The Team develops strategy for Anthem, Anthem’s business units, and Anthem’s growth partner functions, working in close collaboration with business leaders across the enterprise. Engaging with the President and CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and other key leaders, the Anthem Strategy Team focuses on the most critical business priorities for the organization. Specifically, the Team:

  • Scopes and executes in-house consulting engagements

  • Closely monitors key business trends and competitive activities

  • Guides performance management activities across the organization

  • Provides input into enterprise-wide financial planning and investment allocation processes

The Anthem Strategy Team performs additional important roles as requested by Anthem’s President and CEO and the Senior Leadership Team.

The Strategic Consultant will collaborate effectively with Anthem leadership and Anthem Strategy Team members on strategy projects.

Specific roles and responsibilities include:

  • Leads workstreams of internal consulting engagements and strategy projects; leads problem-solving; structures and conducts analysis

  • Partners with business units, interacting with senior leaders across the organization

  • Facilitates large, cross-functional working sessions and meetings to align strategy, planning and execution across relevant business units

  • Develops strategy assessments and business cases; develops a perspective and creates recommendations for Anthem Strategy Team members and senior leadership

  • Analyzes and interprets market research and intelligence to identify growth and innovation opportunities for Anthem

  • Identifies and collects key data from various sources to complete complex analyses (e.g., cost projections, feasibility studies, benchmark comparisons) to support executive decision-making

  • Conducts due diligence to enable the Anthem Strategy Team and executive leadership to make well-informed decisions on partnership and M&A opportunities; provides assessment and thought leadership on industry outlook, strategic fit, synergy potential, and key risks

  • Quickly and efficiently produces high-quality presentations, analysis, and other deliverables

  • Provides and grows technical knowledge and subject matter expertise

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in related field; Master’s Degree preferred. 1-3 years of experience in management consulting or large-scale project management (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • Healthcare experience strongly preferred

  • Experience in identifying market trends / competitive threats and supporting the development of strategic responses

  • Demonstrated experience contributing to the development of business strategies and analysis of company needs

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment and is excited to influence Anthem to positively impact member lives

  • Written, oral and presentation skills necessary to successfully influence senior executives

  • Excellent computer skills, with demonstrated fluency with all key packages

  • Ability to travel may be required
