Location: Office Based in Chicago, IL or Atlanta GA
The Proposal and Marketing Services Manager leads proposal processes, manages cross-functional resources to complete proposals, ensures quality, completeness and oversight of technical writing. Responsible for interpreting customer requirements and working with SME’s to write clear, concise, and compliant responses to RFP requirements for new and existing clients, primarily health plans. Also responsible for translating and leveraging this content to develop associated marketing collateral, selling campaigns and other initiatives to support solution growth.
Primary duties to include, but are not limited to:
Reviews requests for proposals (RFPs) and related documents; analyzes to understand and capture specific operational, administrative, and technical proposal requirements. Collaborates with subject matter experts to determine and guide positioning of our offer.
Partners with sales and growth leadership to understand prospects needs, company interests, and assign appropriate resources and timelines.
Engages with subject matter experts (SMEs) in business functions throughout the organization to determine the business and operational approach to satisfy requirements.
Drafts concise, complete and clear proposal responses to the requirements and / or questions in accordance with proposal development standards, style guidelines and formatting conventions.
Manages final proposal responses and Q&A responses for bid sections or full bids. Edits content submitted by SMEs to create a single unified voice in responses to bids.
Generates persuasive content for proposals to solicit new business outside of a competitive bidding/RFP process including developing content in the support of associated marketing collateral, case studies, thought leadership and other initiatives to support growth strategies.
Drafts effective cover letters, executive summaries, and other marketing services materials to underscore key value propositions and differentiators.
Participates in individual and group proposal and marketing content reviews with senior leadership and other key individuals; incorporate changes and improvements to proposals.
Collects and submits proposal exhibits, attachments, and appendices relevant to assigned sections.
Assists in general proposal and marketing services production activities, including editing, proposal assembly, quality assurance, etc.
Analyzes major competitor strategies. Identifies and monitors changing patterns of competition and recommends responses.
Requires a BA/BS degree in a related field; MS/MBA preferred
7 years of proposal related experience including 5 or more years of experience in the health insurance industry; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
5 years of business development experience including 3 or more years of proposal experience or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Requires strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience with Sale Force or similar sales management software
History of planning and delivering presentations
Health industry experience preferred; experience working in the health insurance industry highly desirable
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills
Ability to travel may be required
